Overview

NACOTS is born out of the necessity for early disease intervention.

Nucleic acid sensor coupled with Internet of Things (NACOTS) is a built-in portable DNA/RNA nanosensor embedded with isothermal amplification of the DNA/RNA module.  The device is controlled with NACOTS software that stores and analyses collected data in the cloud.

Currently, we are focusing on breast cancer (BC) screening due to the fact that millions of women die at younger age because of late diagnosis.

In a year, approximately 8,600 new BC cases are detected in Malaysia. The treatment cost for BC is prohibitively expensive, at >RM7,000 per hospitalization, with at least 7 hospitalization per patient to get chemotherapy/radiotherapy for successful treatment.  In 2022, the Malaysian government spent around RM430 million on BC treatments.

We believe early BC screening save lives and ease the pressure for national healthcare expenditure. Early detection is essential for clearer risk factors and clinical presentations.

  • Public have insufficient awareness on damage of breast cell DNA, leading to BC
  • Mammography is painful and expose to radiation
  • Biopsy is invasive and painful
  • Late diagnose (above stage 2c) resulted in premature mortality (die at young age)
  • High treatment and screening cost on health care providers
  • The screening encourages women of average risk to live a breast-healthy lifestyle.
  • Additionally, the screening educates healthcare providers about the risk factors for early-onset breast cancer and how  their young female patients can manage their risks. These results may guide therapies and prophylactic actions to  treat or prevent certain breast and ovarian cancer types.
  • Only BRCA tests ordered by physicians, genetic counselors, or as part of government screening programs are considered in this market
